Ipswich Town were 12th in League One when Kieran McKenna arrived. The former Manchester United coach weathered some early pressure after failing to make the instant impact that some had expected and within a year had turned a distinctly average side into quite probably the best team the third division has ever seen.
The Tractor Boys took the league by storm in McKenna's first full season: they scored a record 101 goals en route to securing automatic promotion after a four-year absence from the second tier.
When they arrived in the Championship, the league simply did not know what had hit them. By now Kieran McKenna had fully implemented his style of play - his side press aggressively from the front and look to force mistakes in their opposition's build-up. When they have possession, they usually look to move it quickly through the wide areas to create overloads and crossing opportunities. If they're forced to play more patiently through the thirds, they're more than happy to.
This combination of slick play with the ball and restless pressing without it - matched with their unbelievable ability to stay in games until the very last second - has seen them force their way to within touching distance of the Premier League. In fact, no side across England's top four divisions have taken more points than Ipswich Town since they appointed Kieran McKenna.
As long as they're able to avoid defeat this weekend, #ITFC will become just the fourth side to achieve back-to-back promotions from League One into the Premier League. Some achievement. 🚜👏
0️⃣ Since Kieran McKenna took over on the 19th December 2021, NO side have won more points than Ipswich Town (232) in England's top four tiers. The next closest side is Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City (220).

Congratulations to Ipswich Town and their fans.
What they’ve achieved this season against 3 clubs with parachute payments and huge financial overspending is incredible.
Best manager in the league, best attitude and never say die attacking football.
Fully deserved 👏
