The pricing is high even though it’s not an auction, people are willing to pay 1M because it’s piece from the chess master and it has a limited supply and you already stated that part of the funds will go into charity
The limited supply will make it more valuable, producing more will only dilute the value, yea the demand is high but everyone that want 1 shouldn’t get it

This will make it a timeless piece in years to come, people can resale it just like high profile arts by popular artists.

If Hermes produce 10,000 Birkin bags because 10,000 people wants it, it wouldn’t qualify as luxury and it will likely have no resale value
The scarcity is what preserves the value
