Students need teachers to assume leadership roles so that they can learn leadership skills by example that they can later use in life. When teachers are leaders, students learn that they can be leaders too. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010

@sgteach_sari I agree! Change is hard for most people and we never know how someone will deal with change. Sometimes all we can do is be patient and wait for them to be ready. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010

Be gentle and persistent. Nobody likes feeling like they aren't respected, and at the same time change is hard for most people to accept. So by being gentle in your approach you can show your respect and still try to help them grow. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010
@CasterlowAyanna @ECET2natl @barbersclass I agree. It can be hard to go against the current of people surrounding you settling for the same...even when you have a strong feeling that it is for the best.

Facing anxiety over whether their leadership strategies will work. Taking risks of implementing new leadership strategies is hard but necessary to see growth in yourself and your students. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010

Administration can provide teachers with the tools they need to be leaders such as access to leadership conferences. Have any of you gained any valuable information from teaching or leadership conferences? If so, what? #ecet2#uwpsoe2010
@MrOverstreet101 Thank you! Yes teaching is not just a job to give children lessons on math or reading but also to prepare them to go out and make their marks on the world!

A teacher leader is an educator who not only teaches their students but also takes steps to lead them in learning how they can make the world a better place.

When teachers feel like they will be silenced of judged by other teachers who have more experience or who have been at the particular school longer. We need to empower each other and work together! Not break each other down. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010

To never let yourself feel like you have to do things a certain way. To remember that good teachers are diverse in their teaching styles. Schools wouldn't be able to help every student if all teachers taught the same way. #ecet2#uwpsoe2010

When teachers lead it shows students that like their teachers they can be leaders in their own way. It shows them that they can embrace and use their unique interests and talents to put their own personal flair on their leadership styles.

A time when I have been inspired is when I mentored a foster child and saw her continue to grow in confidence throughout our time together. I look forward to seeing growth in my future students and being a part of that growth.
