Remarkably the worst quote isn’t Duff’s but instead this one:
"Rules changing back and forth between different ethics commissioners isn’t problematic because responsibility lies with people subject to the Conflict of Interest Act to keep up with any revisions."
So if there is a change of government, 500 or so government staffers hit cooldown on the day a new cabinet is sworn in.. but they can’t go work for an MP without a waiver?
Also seeks to align the gifts rules to the new lobbying code of conduct. Remains unclear to me why it seems like the revised public entities interpretation still catches Senate and HoC.
between this and the titanic hailstorm that immediately followed this tweet it is hard to avoid the conclusion that the Trudeau dynasty has lost the 天命

The biggest reason David Lametti was dumped as Justice Minister, regional parity.
A Montreal MP needed to go, to get new Tourism Minister Soraya Martinez Ferrada in, according to a Sr. Government source
Here's my story, with more on why Lametti was fired, and Anand was shuffled
#cdnFOI folks: Have you ever been asked to provide government ID to confirm your identity? Maybe it’s common for some federal agencies, but this is new to me. (This is only ATI for RCMP briefing notes and not privacy… not sure how this relates to preventing a privacy breach.)
Lot of people not bothering to read the fine print here. Economic impact of *construction* is what PBO is looking at - no surprise that that is marginal. Report on impact of actual production is apparently coming in next few months - that's the real question
Industrial policy is back in a big way and it doesn't serve anyone's interests to have the debate be vague, opaque boosterism from the government and incomplete analysis from critics/PBO
I'm pretty bearish on the VW (and Stellantis) deals but I'm also concerned that PBO hasn't demonstrated much ability or willingness to model dynamic economic effects. If we have crude modelling on both sides of the question that's deeply unfortunate.
1/3 Hard to imagine how this happened. This would have been a warrant dealing with “activities…constituting threats to the security of Canada”– foreign interference in elections, in an election year. The very weight of the thing would crush a desk.
