The Nidulariaceae, or bird’s nest fungi, are tiny fungi whose cup-shaped fruiting bodies look like miniature nests. They are saprobic fungi, meaning they feed on decaying wood and organic matter.

Inside the “nest” are small egg-like structures called peridioles, which contain the fungal spores.
