Never mind the 2008 FA Cup final win. The craziest #Pompey game ever played on 17 May was in 1941. In the semi-final of the Hampshire Combination Cup (misleadingly named, as it was actually a first-team competition involving Pompey, Saints, Bournemouth and Aldershot) the Blues were twice three goals down against Aldershot before eventually winning 10-5.
There were FOUR hat-tricks in the match, three of them for Pompey (Andy Black, Bert Barlow and Jimmy McIntosh).
Pictured is Andy Black, a prolific goalscorer for Heart of Midlothian. He guested for Pompey during the war years while in the army and stationed at RAOC Hilsea. Andy was the original Corporal Punishment!
PM and Cabinet are all saying they need to move faster. They’re deluded. Labour were thrashed due to their polices (winter fuel payments/rates and NI/raising child benefit cap for those on UC). They’ve left working class behind. #BBCLauraK
Aston Villa is sorry to learn of the passing of former player and League Cup winner Alex Cropley, who has died at the age of 75.
