@DanNeidle Dan, would there also have been stamp duty due when the first 50% of her 1st house was “placed” in the trust and then again when the trust bought her 25% share?
@DanNeidle I wonder what the impact will be on land value. Is it possible agricultural land has been kept artificially high as wealthy (non farmers) invest and then rent it out in it as a way to avoid IHT? Might mean even fewer dragged into it (although of course may not like drop in value)
@imiller1@afneil It may have been planned pre Brexit but would not have been a requirement for UK travelers if UK were still in the EU but outside Schengen. For example, Irish residents are exempt as EU nationals outside of Schengen.
'You have to look beyond the face
to see the person true,
Deep down within my inner space
I am the same as you;
I've counted since that fire burnt
the many lessons I have learnt.
You have to talk to me and not
the skin that holds me in.'
RIP Benjamin: we saw the person true.
@Trump_ton Careful now mayor Trumpton. If you keep saying sensible things like that you might get all sorts of “undesireables”voting for you. Question is how to achieve greater productivity and less work?
@thamesweb @paullewismoney Yep, I know. In the big scheme of things you being forced to pay £8.50 to keep the gas connection for future tenants/owners of your place is pretty much a selfless act, and you should see it that way.
