We’re back for the #LivePeriod at Spooky Nook w/ @TheHoopGroup in the great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania! Thank you to all the College Coaches that’s tapped in with us thus far looking to get ahead on our players from The Class of 2027. Particularly, @MasonDowe11 & @ShowtimeNate5!

I’ve challenged Mason at the PG slot and he’s answered the bell accordingly. Sacrificing points in order to be a Facilitator, while also remaining ready and willing to score at all 3 Levels.

Nate, has been huge with his tenacity around the rim both offensively and defensively, has been clutch with the Corner 3, and surprisingly can lead in Transition.

Our 16U Va Playmakers Select squad is back in action this weekend before we break for the June High School Live Period.

We spoke last week about being ready for the moment. Meaning, being a Self-Starter! The guys have seen the importance and requirements of getting off to a great start which gives them a slight edge in case our opponents get hot and go on a run.

I wanted to challenge our guys this weekend physically with several games, but, also cerebrally in terms of Mental Toughness. And you know what? They truly answered the bell, resulting in a Championship Trophy.

Thank you @MadeHoops for an action-packed day of Hoops and offering an opportunity to our guys to play in front of several College Coaches. Thank you @CharmCityBBall for hosting a Grade A National Qualifier and we look forward to seeing you guys in Ocean City, MD in July.

Our Weekend MVP Honors goes to my guy Sam Schiefelbein (@BattlinBobCatz) who showed his defensive dominance for all 5 Games this weekend, shot the 3 ball surprisingly well, and never wavered in his pursuit of finishing at the cup. We wouldn’t have won without him!

Our 16U @VaPlaymakers Select squad has another opportunity at success this weekend in the great city of Baltimore, MD.

This week we made an emphasis on playing Selfless Defense, the importance of Defensive Communication, and where to realize Defensive Anticipations.

Sophomore Season Highlights 🏀

2-1 this past weekend @HoopGroup Jersey Jam Fest facing competition from all over the Northeastern Region. Our only loss came on a buzzer-beater.

We saw our @VaPlaymakers 16U Select team come together as a unit in an incredible way and finally put the pieces together to close games out after late rallies by our opponents.

Some of our Standouts:

1. Nate Johnson - McDonough HS (MD): 6’2 Combo Guard had his coming out party for sure. He nailed the 3 in critical times but most impressively, he was a monster on the boards, primarily Offensive Rebounds. We couldn’t have won without him.

2. Mason Dowell - Battlefield HS: I can’t say enough about this kids Consistency. He’s a scoring threat at all 3 levels. Most importantly, his evolution at the Point Guard slot is providing solutions on both ends of the courts for us and causing problems for our opponents with his ability to see over smaller guards.

3. Lucas Argueta - Patriot HS: Our 6’5 Forward averaged 2.5 blocks a game but his ability to alter shots at the rim was critical for us defensively. Remarkably, Lucas is becoming one of our deadliest ISO threats with quick feet and the ability to hit the 3-ball.

4. Sam Schiefelbein - Battlefield HS: Sam is a Certified Playmaker. His ability to dictate defensive tempo is high level. Offensively, his aggressive attack to the basket was big time. What we’re really liking about Sam, is his willingness to take on a Leadership Role with our group.

As we prepare for the Live Period, we’re back in the lab next week! We’ll take on a local Round Robin in Sterling, VA on May 10th and then we’re off to Spooky Nook, PA for @HoopGroup May 16th-18th.
