Here are some consequences of the sabotage done by Congress and its allies in Lok Sabha today.

1) Women Reservation will NOT be implemented in 2029 elections:

Current Article 334 (A) of Constitution says women reservation will be come in effect AFTER delimitation is done AFTER first census is done post the commencement of 2023 bill.

Modi govt's Constitution Amendment bill 2026 (defeated today) was to amend 334 (A) and drop the requirement of first census AFTER commencement of bill and immediately do delimitation. Defeated by Congress and allies.

Hence original 334(A) stands.

So those saying just divide 543 seats into 1/3rd for women DO NOT KNOW THE LAW or are INTENTIONALLY MISLEADING. It cannot be done without census completion.

2) Actual Delimitation Will Still Happen
Current Article 81(1) fixes total Lok Sabha seats to 550 maximum.

Current Article 81 (2) says that population proportion for number of seats allotted to each state should be same for all states (except very small states / UTs with population less than 60 lakhs).

Current Article 82 mandates to readjust seats allotted to each state as per first census done after 2026. It is a constitutional requirement to do it.

Modi govt's Constitution Amendment bill 2026 sought to do a few things
a) Increase 550 max seats (operating 543) to max 850 seats (operating 816)
b) Do delimitation basis 2011 census
c) Promise to maintain current proportion of seats for each state.

Congress and allies defeated all of the above amendments.

So what happens now?
a) Delimitation would start from 2027 after census data published.

b) Total Seats would be fixed at 543 (as Constitution Amendment bill to increase it is defeated)

c) Seats to states would be allotted basis 2027 population and Modi govts idea of maintaining CURRENT proportion WOULD NOT APPLY because that bill which promised it has ben defeated.

Hence, delimitation would still happen, but as per current population and Southern States would lose out on their proportion.

In summary what has Congress achieved:

1) Sabotaged Women's Reservation bill immediate implementation and pushed it to 2034 or even beyond.

2) Delimitation would happen but without increase in overall seats and without safeguarding southern states proportion of seats.

When innocent Indians were killed in Pahalgam in a cowardly terror attack sponsored by Pakistan, the DMK and its alliance partners did not take to the streets to condemn the perpetrators and their sponsors.

Yet yesterday, a protest unfolded in Chennai under full police protection, a privilege rarely extended to teachers, nurses, sanitation and anganwadi workers, government employees, or common people, who are routinely detained the moment they raise their voices in protest.

For DMK, appeasement is always at the top of their priority list!

The Honourable Judges of the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court have dismissed the appeal petition filed by the DMK government and the batch of pleas challenging the verdict passed by Honourable Justice Thiru GR Swaminathan avl.

In their order, the Honourable Judges observed that it is difficult to comprehend how a mighty State could harbour the fear that permitting representatives of the Temple and devotees to light a lamp on the stone pillar on a single day in a year would disturb public peace. The Court categorically noted that such a disturbance could arise only if the State itself were to sponsor it.

The Bench further clarified that the Deepa Thoon (stone lamp pillar) situated atop the Thiruparankundram hill belongs to the Temple.

Strongly cautioning the DMK Government, the Honourable Judges remarked that the State should not stoop to such levels in pursuit of political agendas. The Court also noted that the alleged apprehension of a law-and-order problem was nothing but an imaginary ghost, conjured up by the authorities for their own convenience, with the potential to pit one community against another.

We hope that the DMK Government will stop its blatant misuse of power and respect the rule of law by allowing devotees of Lord Muruga to light the Deepam at the Deepa Thoon, as the Court has rightfully affirmed.

The DMK Govt’s hostility toward Sanatan Dharma is no longer a matter of interpretation; it is a fact. The Hindu Religious & Charitable Endowment Department (which is supposed to serve Hindu devotees) appealed against a court order blocking the lighting of the sacred Karthigai Deepam atop Thiruparankundram Hill. This act strikes at the very heart of our people's faith.

And today, by deploying hundreds of police personnel and physically preventing devotees from performing the religious ritual, the DMK regime has exposed the full extent of its appeasement politics.

DMK must answer why Sanatan Dharma is singled out, time and again. Do court orders mean nothing to this govt?
