With Germany trying to make the life of precarious academics even harder, I wonder...

Academia, do you realize that universities EXIST only because of the work of people in temporary positions, right?

This is insane. Basically Germany has now said that postdoc contracts cannot last longer than three years, and after that, they have to be offered permanent positions (of which no one proposed how to generate). Even my own position now would seemingly be illegal. 🤦🏻‍♀️��

NHK is reporting that Abe Shinzo was apparently shot in the chest while delivering a campaign speech in Nara. A reporter is saying they heard 2 gunshot sounds and saw him fall over, bleeding from his chest. He has been taken away in an ambulance.
