Algo pasa en Medjugorje, eso es innegable. Los frutos están ahí. Ahora bien, no pasa lo que los videntes han contado a lo largo de los años. Y creo que en 2024, la Santa Sede obró bien concediendo un Nihil Obstat sin acreditar un fenómeno sobrenatural.

Es una presunta aparición con cosas muy raras a su alrededor, utilizar a la Madre de Dios como ariete en una guerra política entre la Provincia Franciscana de Herzegovina contra Roma y los obispos de Mostar es una cosa muy fea. La Virgen María, la esclava del Señor, jamás llamaría a la desobediencia contra el ordinario legítimo del lugar, hasta poniendo en duda su piedad. Y tampoco se enfrascaría en disputas territoriales sobre parroquias de franciscanos y el obispo. A cualquiera le llama la atención que las apariciones comenzasen el último año del ultimátum de Roma a los franciscanos (decreto Romanis Pontificibus, San Pablo VI).

También hay varios presuntos mensajes que son absolutamente contrarios a la doctrina de la Iglesia, sobre el indeferentismo religioso, o la Virgen arrogándose un papel que no tiene por encima o en igualdad con la Santísima Trinidad, hablando de "sus" planes, o hasta regañando a los fieles por no ir suficiente al santuario.

No puedo pasar por alto tampoco los mensajes y su formato. Los mensajes mensuales y hasta diarios son una cosa muy extraña. Y lo de "los 10 secretos del Padre Petar que se revelarán en algún momento en un pergamino indestructible" suena tan gnóstico que asusta. Eso no es católico. Tampoco puedo ignorar el papel de los presuntos videntes y sus familias, que han construido un imperio económico alrededor del santuario y la Virgen. Lo de los diarios de Vicka es algo que clama al cielo, mintió al obispo bajo juramento.

Y no quiero comentar nada sobre el tema del ex fraile Tomislav Vlašić (a quien la propia aparición calificó de "santo viviente"), antiguo director espiritual de los seis videntes, y que acabó excomulgado en 2020 por fundar una secta esotérica de corte New Age sobre alienígenas en el norte de Italia.

Medjugorje tiene muchísimas sombras a su alrededor, pero ante todo, tiene algo que no se puede ignorar: frutos espirituales. Innumerable cantidad de conversiones, confesiones, rosarios, adoraciones eucarísticas y vocaciones han salido de ese lugar recóndito de los Balcanes. Y eso debe ser tenido en cuenta.

Por eso el Nihil Obstat del Vaticano fue una decisión correcta: no validar a los videntes ni las apariciones, pero salvaguardar a los fieles, y de facto, intervenir el santuario para ponerlo bajo control directo de Roma, con un Visitador Apostólico permanente, y censurar a los videntes descontrolados, para evitar la locura de los años 80 y 90.
