Hey @cityofsydney, @CloverMoore, can you please ask your skyline landscape contractors to cease parking on and blocking footpaths. If you're going to take walkable cities seriously this needs to stop. These guys have a free spot 5 metres away 🙄
@DrSallyL This just highlights we need to overhaul how we tax road use. Something that takes into consideration vehicle usage, weight, and pollution emitted I think would be a good start. It would also be great to give people tax breaks who can chose not to own a car at all!
@AndrewAQLD@Kermitron@craigreucassel I do agree that most EVs are currently rich peoples toys at the moment and many of these people already avoid other forms of taxation
@AndrewAQLD@Kermitron@craigreucassel I think we have different concepts of what tax should do. I feel fossil fuels, just like alcohol and tobacco are harmful to society and should be taxed in proportion to their harm. You could argue a tax on EV’s from a resource extraction point but we did have a mining tax once...
@AndrewAQLD@Kermitron@craigreucassel Because EVs are far cheaper to power and maintain than their ICE counterparts they are already cheaper once you consider the total cost of ownership. It’s like buying a subsidised phone from a telco, you think your getting better value but you’re deluding yourself
@KetanJ0 I really hate how gas is marketed as a luxury item. More often than not renters are stuck with unflued heaters and stoves without a proper range hoods, nothing luxurious about being slowly poisoned to death. I’ll take a heat pump and an induction cooktop any day!
@WillReturns1066@NeCWe @billshortenmp The CSIRO seems to disagree with your facts. Up until recently coal was indeed cheaper but the costs of renewables have been falling dramatically while the cost of coal has stood still https://t.co/7v5n7MjopM
@CloverMoore I love this idea! I just hope that some of the space for this comes from the 20-30% of urban space dedicated to road transportation instead of the cities very limited foot path space
@CloverMoore That’s wonderful news! You mentioned offsetting emissions from garbage trucks, when they are due for replacement maybe take a look at what the City of Casey are doing https://t.co/mlcqg5gWdL
@mcannonbrookes@MichaelM_ACT @Matt_KeanMP It’s amazing how quickly the economics of renewables have changed in the past decade, it won’t be long till NSW enjoys cheaper and cleaner electricity just like the ACT https://t.co/p0jwhCrzCT
@CloverMoore If we could remove pollution from the vehicles in the city, either by going for EVs or ditching them altogether that monumental restoration effort would last that much longer! #cleanair https://t.co/EHcFyxHR6E
Lets do this NSW! I don’t think anyone is going to say no to cheaper electricity bills. Hopefully @Matt_KeanMP is already on the case! https://t.co/p0jwhC9Yej
@AspyrMedia Aspyr got back to me with an ETA of June 25th so fingers crossed. I’ve had some success using the fix posted on Reddit but depending on the game you can end up with a lot of desync issues (this is the reason as to why Aspyr have disabled multiplayer) https://t.co/kc6jZMeAx9
This will have more impact on the price of your electricity bill than the removal of the carbon tax. Thank you @the_AEMC, hopefully businesses and households will also be able to participate in future https://t.co/IBPhD043IF
