👦: How did you feel on your first night after enlisting?

🐲: Once you enlist, your way of speaking changes a bit… I was tired.
The military way of speaking felt awkward, and I think I was really overwhelmed at the time.

👦: When you enlist, you have to cut your hair really short. How was that for you?

🐲: I don’t care much about outward appearances, so it was actually really comfortable. In the military, you have only two sets of prescribed clothes and a standardized style, so trying to look stylish is basically just adjusting the beret, haha. I remember it as a fun memory being able to wash my hair while washing my face.

👦: To me, those ten years went by so fast, but how were the past ten years for you, GDragon?

🐲: Hmm… There were some years that passed quickly, and others that went by more slowly.

👦: “I feel like I’m a harmful influence on teenagers.”

🐲: Did I say that?

👦: “I’m different from other idols because I make my own songs.”

👦: A sharp, youthful vibe, maybe?

🐲: I think I still have that edge

👦: Even your posture looks pretty sharp right now. (joking)

👦: Compared to ten years ago, do you think you’ve become duller?

🐲: Hmm… For example, back then, during that period, every moment of my life was basically spent as GDragon constantly working and living as that persona. So I was always pushing myself, wanting to do well, striving for perfection, constantly whipping myself forward. Maybe that’s why, after those breathless times, I ended up with that seven-year hiatus. During that time including my military service I was finally able to separate my personal life from my work life.
Now I’m in a state where I can switch on and off.

👦: So in short, you’ve become more relaxed than before?

🐲: I’ve definitely become more relaxed. And now it’s been about a year since my comeback.
Looking back on this past year, I can say I’ve found that edge again ever since I started working again. But now I can also rest when I need to, and truly disconnect. I think all of that comes from having found some peace and balance.
