Well since everyone is out here complaining about YouTube’s AI moderation, I have my own complaint to add. In January 2023 I uploaded a video about the Procreate app (an app I use frequently and had mentioned in several of my prior videos). This video organically gained steady traction for a few months. I was not monetized — and am still not — but this video alone with its trajectory would’ve monetized me. It was “evergreen” content that was still relevant for many months later. Out of nowhere YouTube very obviously suppressed it for some unknown reason. I suspect the unknown reason is that my small channel was getting too much attention from this one video. Oh no, we can’t have that! I made a whole playlist full of complementary videos about more specific aspects of the same app for months (and even years) afterwards. But nearly no one sees them. Thanks YouTube.

This is a throwback to this video that I put together last year about digital ghost painting. Last year, there was a trend going around of people who would go to a thrift store, buy an old painting, and paint ghosts and other spooky things into the paintings (putting their own spooky flair on them). In this video, I demonstrate how you can do something similar digitally on Procreate. And with Procreate, you can also animate them!

In this video, I explain the process of doing research on the origin of a quote. While I was looking for inspiration for a sign to make for my sister and brother-in-law for their wedding reception, I came across the following quote: "We are all a little weird. And Life's a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them, and fall in mutual weirdness and call it love." which is often attributed to Dr. Suess. I felt like there was something wrong with the quote and I was skeptical that Theodor Geisel (Dr. Suess) was the one who said it. So I googled it. And found a 10 year old article on https://t.co/LfWZypmx2E that explained the true origin and revealed the original quote by Robert Fulghum which is both grammatically and ethically correct. I explain the importance of doing research for maximum quote integrity as a best practice when making signage (or for any use whatsover). I also touch on the importance of knowing how to navigate the world of copyright and trademark when it comes to quotes (more to come on that topic later).
