Can someone explain how and why a network would "run out" of e-sims?
Isn't part of the logic of having esims that you don't hold physical stock?
The levels of nonsense we tolerate in this country
@tutusaysso They don't really have a choice at this stage.
They have been conned into negotiations only to be bombed during the negotiations.
There is no incentive to play ball under the current circumstances.
@ukusefya@Ghxtt0Plat0 Most of the compounds flourished from farm workers dwellings.
Chawama police post is where the old farm house was.
The name came from the widows move from the old farm house to a new location.
Virtually the compounds were farms originally
@FMwenge Whilst people are fixated on fuel the greater concern is the other parts of the value chain.
This shortage will impact the prices of fertilizers, plastics, rubber, lubricants, synthetic fibers like nylon etc.
The network effects are immense.
@kamona_mubita@TheBigChairman4 Tax breaks would not impact a villager for example. They only benefit ppl who pay taxes.
Subsidies provide incentives for people to produce when it would otherwise be unprofitable.
Tesla for example is a beneficiary of US govt subsidies.
Other countries subsidies plenty
@FMwenge The issue with inflation is that it is a rate not a constant.
So inflation has dropped it only means prices are rising at a lower rate.
The correct scenario would be if one would accept a salary cut in light of deflation.
@OwusuSamG 😂 that would be very suspicious on the surface cos typically MTN would provide an SLA for backup power to the tower.
In the past IHS didn't allow independent power but that could have changed.
Typically you are potentially served by more than one tower at a time
@MHopeMK BOZ regulates interest rates. The MPR is the rate that BOZ lends to commercial banks.
Banks add a margin when lending to the public. When MPR rises loan rates rise and when it goes down they decline.
100 basis points is 1% and 75 basis points is 0.75%
@ukusefya@VladimirMPetrov@LankyObserver In most cases those are agents selling and not the real owners who tend to be formerly politically connected individuals who hoarded land.
State lodge prices are actually closer to 700k an acre but it's common for agents to copy an ad then increase the price.
@Space2013M@KambayiRodgers A simple solution is state ownership and privatized management. More specifically management contracts.
ZESCO can remain Zambian but be operated by a private entity without state interference.
We sold Zamefa, Kagem, the mines, where did it get us as a collective?
@Space2013M@AlexKasonde5 Parastatals can and do work. The argument that private investment is better is not grounded in reality.
The UK privatized gas, rail, power etc and prices spiralled. To the extent that British Rail was nationalized in May of 2025.
Let's fix the real issue, professional control
