His name was Riley. Riley was sent alone to the North Tower for search and rescue on Sept 11, 2001. No one was found alive.

The stress on the rescue dogs was so high due to the low amount of live rescues, the emergency workers would hide in the rubble to keep the dogs spirits up.

May we #neverforget all who lost their lives and all the rescuers who gave so much.
