Applying AI to education. PhD from UCLA, software engineer and research scientist at Yahoo, teaching applied machine learning @ Berkeley the last 7 years.
We've been teaching machines for years. Via supervised learning: show a model 10,000 cats and 10,000 non-cats and it learns what a cat is. They have read everything we've written. Now the roles are reversing. The AI is about to teach us.
Teachers aren't going away. The AI iterates and works with the students, the human sets the direction, monitors and course corrects. We still need people who know what's right, what's wrong, and can imagine what's possible.
