I’ve said this before but the primary thing in my opinion that people misunderstand about nonviolent movements of the past is that they were only successful because of their ability to cause economic disruption. You can’t have a social justice movement that protects capitalism.
🚨THREAD🚨 My brothers & sisters in Colombia are being massacred by the far right fascist government because they dared to protest for their rights
Protesters are being abused, illegally detained, beaten up, killed & women are being sexually assaulted

There's a church in Brooklyn Center that was harboring people hurt by police violence during the #DaunteWright protests, and this was how the cops responded.

White supremacy is not an “extremist ideology” in America. It is the mainstream ideology today just as it was at the height of the slave trade & Jim Crow-era segregation. If it were truly extreme, it wouldn’t be so pervasive as to be at issue in every institution & policy.
There’s a whole ass Progressive Congressional Caucus. Democrats control both the House and the Senate, along with the Presidency. So what, the fuck, are they doing exactly? This is why I lol at that whole “we just gotta vote in progressives to take over the party” bullshit. When?
What are we supposed to do with this? I’m so tired of these tweets from politicians with the power to fix issues tweeting like shit is cute. What are YOU going to do about it? Ain’t you the whip of the Progressive Caucus? There has to be something you could do beyond tweeting.
The foundation of capitalism is enclosure. In order to create a fully dependent working class, the masses had to be restricted from access to land/nature. So "private property" was created, maintained by force/violence, & used as means to extract (steal) value from coerced labor.
Western imperialism is capitalism's life support system.
Without the US-centralized empire constantly sabotaging socialist governments, propping up global financial institutions and controlling commerce and currency at gunpoint, capitalism would've died long ago.
Pull the plug.
