BTW You're not supposed to always use references in a 1:1 manner. They're a guide you can use draw things from a different angle, lighting setup, etc.

Sometimes people forget things drawing on and off so it helps to make image crops and notes of what the refs are for.

people wonder how I shade with black, so here's a quick breakdown!

No crazy tricks, it's just strategy :)
I use a saturated base colour, so the black de-saturates my piece & outlines my focus point colours.
