কেউ অপরাধ করে থাকলে তার শাস্তি হওয়া উচিত। তাকে গ্রেফতার করা, তার বিরুদ্ধে মামলা দায়ের করা, তার বিরুদ্ধে প্রমাণ আদালতে পেশ করা ইত্যাদিকে যদি “প্রতিহিংসা”র লেবেল লাগিয়ে দেওয়া হয় সেক্ষেত্রে কোনো নেতা বা দলের অপরাধেরই বিচার সম্ভব নয়। @AITCofficial, সিপিএম-এর অপরাধীদের আপনারা জেলে পোরেননি কেন? এখানে উদারমনষ্ক হওয়ার সার্টিফিকেট নিজেকে দেওয়া হাস্যকর। অপরাধীরা অপরাধ রাজ্য ও দেশের ��িরুদ্ধে করেছিল, তাদের ক্ষমা করার অধিকার মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের বা তৃণমূল কংগ্রেসের ছিলনা। হ্যাঁ, মমতার মাথায় লোহার রড দিয়ে মারাত্মক আঘাত করার অপরাধের জন্য হয়ত তিনি সিপিএমের গুন্ডা লালু আলমকে ক্ষমা করতে পারতেন (যদিও করেননি, ১৯৯০-এর ঘটনার মামলা ২০১৯ অব্দি চলেছিল)। ব্যক্তির প্রতি অপরাধ আর সমাজের প্রতি অপরাধের মধ্য এই পার্থক্যটা থাকা উচিত। তৃণমূল ভুল জায়গায় উদারপন্থা দেখিয়েছে বলে @BJP4Bengal-কেও সেই ন্যাকামো করতে হবে?

The law used against ‘The Skin Doctor’, Dr Neelam Singh, is not protecting democracy. It is strangling it. The same weapon has been used by different parties in power at the state and central levels — against @TajinderBagga, actress Ketaki Chitale, journalists @abhijitmajumder and me, and countless others.

Criticism, reporting allegations, or using qualifiers like “alleged” should not invite intimidation, takedowns, FIRs and arrests in a free society.

These draconian laws have been abused across party lines against journalists, creators and ordinary citizens alike.

PM @narendramodi and HM @AmitShah should scrap these laws in the next session of Parliament. Democracies do not criminalise criticism.
