Raised by a single mother who was physically abused in both marriages. Father used to physically and verbally abuse me. Grew up poor and homeless a lot. Moved over 20 times. I had a slurred speech issue and was in special education for behavioral issues.
Caught and arrested in high school (wasn’t booked or charged) for stealing wash cloths to be able to bathe. Expelled my senior year for fighting in self defense. Later was allowed back and finished on time and had a full ride cross country scholarship.
Now I’m a Navy veteran, FAMU Graduate, Kappa, 4.0 in grad school an amazing career, a homeowner and a partner who loves me. ❤️
