Why do academics rely so much on symmetry instead of substance when making “arguments”?

There’s an old saying that goes “programmers are the laziest people on earth. They’ll spend hours or even days automating a simple process so they never have to think about it again.”

The same goes for an academic’s mental heuristics.

There are redeeming qualities within the liberty movement. (l)ibertarianism, free-markets, Laissez-faire, individualism, sound money, et al.

It's really sad and unfortunate that so many in the movement have allowed it to be polluted with identity politics, gender politics, intersectionalism, lifestyle signaling, edgelord nihilism, populism, scientism, intellectual AND SOCIAL Robespierre traps, and more damaging negativity than could possibly be covered in a simple post.

Blaming an entire social, religious, political, legal, and cultural movement on something another social, religious, political, legal, and cultural movement did in the past is the epitome of gang war and totalitarian blame games.

When a person references a specific point in time (say...1953) and says "This is why this is happening today!" they throw away any individual responsibility in favor of the collective.

Favoring the collective over the individual ignores agency. This paves the way for ideologies that justify oppression, dehumanization, and endless cycles of revenge.

Personal accountability devolves into tribal grievances and power grabs. No different than the collectivist underpinnings of fascism, communism, or religious extremism that prioritize group identity over human agency.

This also falls into the category of Pathological and Parochial Altruism. Favoring group harm over individual ethical choice. Weaponized empathy for the in-group vs. the out group.

I want to empower individuals to act and to free themselves from vengeful collectives. In the end, agency is absolute and there will be an accounting.

The COVID era was a Socialist's wet dream. A feel-good, "I'm helping", collectivist, world-wide, communitarian utopia. Follow the leaders and experts, they know what's best! Stay in your house for your safety! Wear your mask to protect your social circle. Keep 6 feet away from the stranger. Turn in your neighbor if they stray from the path. Support the protests that are approved by the anointed authorities. Control psychology 101.

Anyone who cannot see this is either disingenuous, ignorant, or flat out malicious. I'm ever shocked by the number of people who thought this was all a great idea.🤦‍♂️
