Raila Odinga is a Panafricanist with impeccable credentials. He didn't lose the AU Commission chairmanship because he is unpopular. He lost because his candidature was fronted by a president whose panafricanist credentials are contrary to AU's well known position on Saharawi Democratic Republic, AU's unwavering support for Gaza's freedom and ambivalent chairmanship of EAC demonstrated by dalliance with French imperial interests. Ruto brought down or subbstantially contributed to Raila's failure to capture the AU Commissin chairmanship. Whether this was deliberate or not only time will tell. For Baba all I can say is slipping is not falling.
