Why is no one entertaining the idea that this call-up was intentional on Arsenal’s part. If Southgate drops Saka, City knows he’s out of Sunday’s game. Given how deceptive Arteta has been about injuries, I can’t imagine he’d allow the England call-up to give City an advantage.
It's a risk picking Bukayo Saka for #ENG. He needs a break, has "muscular" issues. Southgate saying now at SGP that Saka being assessed, particularly with #AFC playing #MCFC on Sunday. His availability to England has to be on say-so of #AFC medical staff. Saka needs protecting.
Agreed. All the goodwill from his initial reaction is now undone. Only point I’d disagree with Philippe is that while shit indeed happens, we shouldn’t always just move on. This is repititive shit officiating and the PGMOL needs an overhaul.
The most worrying part is not the result, but how most of the team just went into their shells after West Ham started getting into the game. Right flank was non-existent, passes were hesitant, and only a few looked and played confident. Inexperience?
No fan of Kane, but I wonder if the playacting is in part prompted by inconsistent refereeing. If Kane had shrugged it off, would Doucoure get a red? I don’t know - I’ve seen a player kick Saka and not draw a foul. And it might be this doubt that encourages exaggeration.
Gabriel Jesus out for months, PGMOL admitting they got Brentford equaliser wrong, 1st and 3rd choice CB injured together and missing the home stretch - “extremely favourable circumstances” indeed. Being partisan is fine but at least don’t hide behind the facade of ‘journalism’.
I don’t get the controversy. What @IanDoyleSport said is right. Arsenal have had extremely favourable circumstances go their way this season… he actually praises them for taking advantage of that too…
Arteta’s game management/substitution is really abject. Why bring on two guys with 12 mins left? Why leave Saka, who is clearly flat, on and risk injuring him, when he isn’t going to make any impact in this state? #AVLARS
Nketiah looks bereft of confidence. Do we let him play out of his slump at the expense of the team, or try something different? But we’ve already taken out Trossard. Hmmm
Xhaka looks knackered and shouldn’t have started. Zinchenko trying too hard - just needs to do his job and feed the front five quickly. Playmaking isn’t his primary duty. Finally, no one reminding the ref of Villa’s time-wasting the way a seasoned pro would. CMONNNN #AVLARS
Sadly it is quite clear our inexperience is finally coming to bear. Completely buckling under the pressure. Not unexpected, but the rate at which things unravelled is quite stunning. #AVLARS
This is a genuinely impressive riposte from Graham Potter to a narrow-minded question. I dare say it’s the sort of bite back that most Chelsea fans have wanted to see from him all along too.
