A Call to Economic Freedom in our lifetime.
It is no accident that this NGC sits in Kimberley. This city, the site of South Africa’s first Zama Zamas, bears witness to the great theft of our nation’s wealth. Long before Cecil John Rhodes carved his empire in diamonds, it was African hands that first dug and discovered these riches. Rhodes and his ilk discovered nothing, they looted, commodified, and dispossessed. Kimberley stands as a living metaphor for the unbroken chain of dispossession that continues to haunt the African people.
I meet one of the great giants ever produced by the students movement Comrade Andile Sihlahla who served as the national president of the South African Students Congress (SASCO) in a wedding of another great giant Cde Thembinkosi Bonakele. We had a great moment with comrades who have never jumped stages in our movement. “We do not lead to gain status or praise but to bend history to our will”
The unemployed must build, repair and maintain government social infrastructure. We can’t go for tenders to repair broken road signs, fix fences at graveyards, paint schools and community centres. Please join us as we take back the unemployed back to train. #BuildingTheCapacity

I had the honor of delivering a keynote address at the #NedbankTopEmpowerment, focusing on the Transformation Fund, fixing ESD to create jobs, & scale black owned businesses into global value chains. Empowerment is not charity, it is investment!
I met with Peking University economists to discuss China’s energy transition and industrial development. The session provided an opportunity for South Africa to take lessons on how China has used subsidies to reduce upfront costs to innovation, while building competitiveness.
