i wish i could go back in time and tell my younger self to beware of people who prioritize "being nice" all the time, bc most of the time it just means they're only concerned avoiding personal discomfort, not with fixing any workplace conflict (that they contribute to, too).
i know OPs are most likely talking about "please don't write like a chronically online hate watcher" but i feel this kind of conflict-avoidant attitude contributes to the artistic and social stagnations of workplaces. it PMO tbh. paradox of intolerance..
like being SCREAMED at for putting a camera on the wrong shelf, people shouting at each other over fucking DRAWINGS for a COMMERCIAL, passive aggressive mass emails over what time to send an email, holy fuck? these people are ADULTS? SOME WITH CHILDREN?
what is "being difficult to work with"? is it being rude to a new coworker? is it honest critique online? is it defending yourself when you're fired for trying to form a union? is it defending yourself from sexual harassment? do you just want someone that doesn't fight back?
whenever someone says "be mindful" i wish they were more specific because this sort of super vague, conflict avoidant attitude feeds into the already shitty, creepy abuse apologist cultures creative industries are already known for.. especially games & animation.
going off topic here but there's a balance to be struck imo, don't be cruel but take no shit
the creative industry does have a problem with downplaying abuse and it's a red flag to be "blacklisted" when you write honest critique online, or "difficult" shit like labour issues
gonna copy what my friend said on here a few days ago. for any artist that's trying to break into the entertainment industry- whether it be games, animation, movies, whatever- please be mindful about what you say regarding any projects that are coming out. everyone you can think-
In the ruins of the former American Empire, while travelling on dark routes, you may find yourself in the presence of an entity known only as "The bunny of the swarming bugs" or more commonly, "The Wabbit." He is said to be a long forgotten trickster god. Never quarrel with Him.
