Welcome, but the question remains.

Dr Farooq Abdullah calling Syed Aga Ruhullah “like my son” is certainly a welcome gesture. Political differences are natural, and reconciliation is always better than confrontation.

But, with due respect, is this acceptance, love and regard reserved only for the “son”?

What about the “grandchildren”, “brothers” and associates who stood with Aga Ruhullah during the period of separation and ideological differences, those who became his eyes, ears and trusted political companions?

If differences within a family are natural, then surely those who stood by the “son” during difficult times cannot suddenly become outsiders.

Or is politics also a family affair, where sons are welcomed back while the brothers, grandchildren and associates are left at the gate?

The people of Kashmir are watching and asking:
Is this reconciliation, or selective reconciliation?
