the perfect victim isn’t even the one who winds up repulsed or scared of sex afterward. people just tend to lack empathy in general for victims of SA. most people just expect you to never talk about it, to never burden them with the temporary discomfort of what you had to endure.
Courtney shares important Instagram story regarding the seven rapists involved in the assault of 'Jane Doe' at Cornell University
"...stop calling them the Cornell 7, they're not a team of vigilantes, they're a bunch of rapists."
I've seen multiple women today talk about being relentlessly pressured into sex they did not want with the replies being full of men hurling abuse at them for considering it rape. men refuse to accept that coercion is rape because if they admit it is then they are rapists.
people donating versions of shane and ilya's number and leaving such heartfelt messages under the donations. what a beautiful thing this show turned into! ❤️😭
Seeing the NYT excerpt of what is law enforcement's paraphrasing of Jane Doe's statements - being used as definitive proof she is inconsistent - is giving me serious doubts about some of your guys' critical thinking ability and understanding of the "justice" system...
There are numerous reports you see on this site about how the justice system regularly twists and misrepresents victim testimony simply to suit it's interest in not prosecuting... sounds like people are STILL not learning anything from seeing them. Circulating a screenshot of a nondescript doc without citation and context without skepticism really underscores how unskilled people are at evaluating evidence, and are actually taking the corrupt legal authority at face value. (see below)
Like, Cornell had financial incentive to bury this case due to a massive prior settlement from allowing a child molester to continue practicing and abusing kids for years - they are in serious financial trouble rn - and the school owned and insured the frat house. To start. The DA is now trying to cover his ass by dodging questions - see my other post with his interview - about under-investigating. Cornell's "police," who report to leadership at the school, didn't refer this out to city police, and the DA didn't even listen to the police/victim transcript before he buried the case.
Please be more skeptical of what you read and the agenda of who wrote it. (And when you see people arguing definitively from a screenshot of some unknown incomplete legal doc, consider you may be seeing their agenda.)
don’t trust or believe anyone who says the cornell story has changed so much that it discredits the victim. if you get your news from reputable and primary sources and have the literacy to understand them (most don’t) then you’d see that the story is pretty consistent.
at best it's a case of deliberate negligence and at worst an intentional cover up. Either way they did not intend to provide justice to the victim and get to the bottom of a clear crime
If even I, a random person, am looking for the original statements to ensure I have the clearest picture on what occurred based on the reporter's account directly, how does the DA get away with saying he had never seen the transcript & her saying she was raped is "news" to him
