I just called my house rep Katherine Clark to ask her to support H.Res.77, a call for nuclear disarmament, because I can't stop thinking about how the number of nuclear weapons that already exist at this point are enough to end human life on this planet six times over

it's not a national security issue as in "we have to make sure all the other nuclear powers are losing more than we are," it's a national security issue in that if someone doesn't start taking steps in good faith towards nuclear disarmament, there will be no nations left

also, just by chance, I happened to read Stoppard's adaptation of Schnitzler's Dalliance a few days before starting Leopoldstadt, and seeing Fritz from Dalliance cameo in Leopoldstadt was a fascinating way of reframing and contextualizing both plays.

i want to propose a new genre that is screenplay format, but it's specifically written and designed only to be read since god knows no one's ever going to want to throw money at a project that out-there

finally getting around to reading Stoppard's Leopoldstadt, and it's beautiful and endlessly relevant to the present moment, and also I absolutely cannot imagine how some of the information in the stage directions is conveyed on a stage.

or maybe he is writing one long, slow novel over the course of several plays. Has anyone sat down and read Dalliance, The Coast of Utopia, Rock 'n Roll, and Leopoldstadt in that order, right in a row?
