๐ฑ๐น jL will stand in for ๐ฌ๐ง mezii at ๐ต๐น BLAST Open Porto, then for ๐ซ๐ท apEX at ๐ท๐ด PGL Masters Bucharest, with both players away for the birth of their children.
maybe this is a hot take but I def feel like valve scammed some people with the new stickers...
remember hey if your sticker drops by more than 25 tokens within 24 hours we will refund you the difference!
but if we drop a square sticker thats way cheaper and actually the exact same... oops! :P
At this point the best thing Valve can do is remove map voting. Just make Prem a random map every time you queue. Chuck all the maps in there to force people to learn. IM SO SICK OF MIRAGE/DUST 2
Hot Take: this isnt necessarily a Cache problem but a byproduct of an issue CS has had for years.
People want fast queues and to not overly think about the game so the simpler maps: Mirage, D2, even Inferno, get played more because weve been playing them for decades and decades.
Specialist maps like Nuke and Overpass struggle because it requires more effort to play compared to the above
Newer maps get played less because players dont want to learn new things
All of this combines with Valve only picking the least played maps every Prem season to create a system where the newest map will ALWAYS be the least played one.
Train, Overpass, and now Cache. All fine maps to play but because they are the newest in the pool Pro teams largely prefer to let it sit as their ban and all the soloQ players in Prem would just prefer to keep playing Mirage over and over.
What should've been the Map Pool:
Overpass
Anubis
Ancient
Nuke
Dust II
Vertigo
Cache
Gives them time to work on Inferno issues and gives a needed break from casual overplayed Mirage. More options, more unique styles, more thinking required. Dust II/Ancient/Cache left for casuals
This season is unplayable, had enough after 6 games. Puggiest map pool, same braindead Mirage/D2 toss up. Such a joke. People dont like to actually be challenged to learn new things or have to think, it's awful. Only time I play now is Cache competitive every now and then
Cache is the least played CS2 map in Premier.
But don't worry, Valve will remove Anubis next season for Train, then remove Cache for Overpass, then remove Train for Cache, then remove Overpass for Anubis, then...
this is the worst season out of all of them. like how have you had THREE YEARS to teach your dogshit "state of the art anti-cheat" to detect spinbotting and you still can't do it????
New season means new ranks so people are more likely to stick to what they know already for a best chance at higher rank. Would love to see the stats a month from now but doubt it will change much. Puggiest map pool ever
As expected, not even 12 hours later and Cache sits around mid-table. Despite being a new season with a new map, everyone STILL defaults to Mirage and D2.
This is why this system of removing the least played map will never work and newer maps will never have a chance:
For football its always the club before the players except in very rare cases. In CS though for me its heavily players before team/club. I think that its largely due to orgs not truly being physically tied down to cities/nations as its mainly just online perception
Do you guys support the ORG or the PLAYERS in CS? ๐ค
Unlike football, I always follow players instead of orgs.
For example when device left Astralis I started to cheer for 100T.
I'm not saying the oldest map should always be the one cycled out but Valve's approach of constantly replacing the newest maps to the map pool and letting others sit for years untouched only perpetuates casual players constantly gravitating towards the classics.
It's no wonder no-one bothered to play overpass or train when they've been removed 6 months from their introduction.
Throw us a curveball and MAKE PEOPLE UNCOMFORTABLE
I like mirage. But it's below cs2's visual standard compared to the other maps in the pool and could probably do with a once over. It would take some balls to remove that from the pool in place of cache for a season.
And I'd have respected it.
It feels like there's 0 conviction behind every new map introduction. Like Valve don't believe it will last.
Another season of only playing Mirage and Dust. Whatโs the point of even adding new maps that never get played?
Weโll just forever be cycling out Train, Anubis and Overpass and only ever playing Mirage and Dust.
It sucksโฆ
at this point what the f*ck is Valve doing
swapping Mirage with Cache would have been the least painful way of moving a 13 year old dated Source 1 looking map to a rework, a classic replacing a classic
they removed Overpass, added it again with almost no changes and now are removing it again, what is the point?
not to mention that now we have arguably the most pug-y map pool of all time with Mirage, Dust II and Cache
if youโre always gonna remove the least played map, then we are stuck with the same 6 maps forever
just makes me think they dont know what theyโre doing either, just look what they did to Vertigo
