Yesterday my heart was full. Shoutout to @BrockMontgomer4 for creating an amazing event! See it, Be it! 4th graders from a local school came to @CWRUSOM to learn about being a doctor. These kids were ready! They came into the standardized patient room asking great questions!

This event is in response children in my neighborhood seeing their brown skin as a thug suit this past halloween.

On halloween a group of young black boys w/o costumes came by for candy. I asked what are your costumes and they replied thugs.
I felt saddened, these boys felt their brown skin was viewed as a thug suit. As a society we must do better. My response- No, you look like a CEO or MD

I am bringing 80 4th graders to @CWRUSOM Friday for the first See it, Be it event. We are going teach them about dif specialties, let them use ultrasound, a surgery simulator. If you have any engaging ways of teaching kids about your specialty let me know #MedTwitter
