After much, or more aptly moderate, ado, the first novella of Galactic Mailman is going up on Royal Road. It's a lighthearted, low violence, slightly comedic, and noblebright take on pulp scifi inspired by Star Trek and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The Duality of SG-1: One episode is a dead serious, tense episode including elements of political thrillers and people doing desperate things in desperate times
The very next episode is parodying itself in the form of a cheesy, low budget scifi tv being filmed
A+ tonal whiplash
If there's something I have to give SG-1 credit for, it's having John de Lancie play a completely serious character with an air of gravitas and menace around him rather than the typecast he's usually in.
@Fiannawolf2 I liked the first seasons of all the big 4 Star Trek shows, at least the ones I can remember. Voyager is a bit of a blur. They do tend to be a little shakey, but still have interesting stories to tell despite that.

Song of the Now: Confession by Mental Discipline
Mental Discipline is one of those bands that skim along the edge of me liking them a lot or just somewhat, but this is one of the songs that mostly hits
Wow, an SG-1 episode about slavery, right after an episode about female puberty, right after an episode about religious zealotry. Wow it's like I'm watching season 1 again
@GhostGirl1317 He doesn't have a moustache, but when he gets going about the way certain demographics disrespect and abuse his country I wouldn't be surprised if a square one manifested from the sheer force of his ire.
And 2.3k more words into Goldenwoe part 2, resolving the lingering plotline of my dying protagonist in a way that involves him not dying. Also including his backstory in a way that is... odd.
I'm unsure about the entire thing, so imma throw it at my Austrian and get his opinion.
Apophis better be fuckin' dead this time, if he survives slamming into a planet at a significant fraction of light speed in a ship of which he has zero access to any systems that explodes in a fireball visible from space I will be annoyed
