@matthubelart @simonstalenhag Honestly I'm not a crypto guru. I'm just an artist. Crypto art has been good to me. I just don't want to see it condemned before it has a chance. If it does fall, I'll still be an artist. I'll find a new way and continue. Also, I believe MakersPlace is open to everyone.

@matthubelart @simonstalenhag Thats more or less my point. I get low bids on my stuff. I just don't accept it. I don't sell to sell. I sell to finance the next thing. I agree both are suspect. If someone wants to buy a napkin doodle from me for 25k. I'll sell it.

@RexxDeane @simonstalenhag Someone could also argue that the coal power plant is running anyway to power all the factories making the things so I might as well use some to mine crypto. I wouldn't. I'm simply saying what makes electricity for the electric cars. Things aren't so simple.

@RexxDeane @simonstalenhag An ETH isn't mined continually. And the gas fee isn't truly much different than any other tax or added cost. Like a banking fee. Many Francis Bacon pieces have been lost as well as the Amber room. I can buy any art I want and burn it in my yard.

@simonstalenhag @matthubelart I think the energy consumption/waste is a shorter line to draw with crypto as cause and effect. We need to try and observe that effect with other industries as a whole as well. No system is perfect. I'm grateful of the honest and tempered trade of thoughts we've had here.

@simonstalenhag @matthubelart All being said as well. I have 3 of your books and find your work inspired and prolific and would support it on any platform as a way to support the artist themselves. The pursuit of art is difficult on any platform and creators should be rewarded.

Is that when you lump the two together is that you then need to consider the entire process of making art with its consumption of resources. Big factories making materials.

@Foervraengd @simonstalenhag @jstn i have sold none of my physical paintings. I use my nft profits to fund them currently. I've also recieved royalties for my nfts that are resold.

@simonstalenhag There is always a cost associated with either. What about the gallery cut or royalties. Many aspects translate across both. They are a similar monster.

@simonstalenhag I create crypto art and traditional. This is an accurate statement presented in an innaccurate manner. Their is a cost for minting and such but so is their a cost to paint traditionally. Simons books are available in print. His website runs on electricity too. Whats that impact?
