Preah Vihear Temple has been destroyed by Thai shelling during this new round of fighting between Cambodia and Thailand.
A UNESCO World Heritage site has been lost. This is not collateral damage. It is the destruction of irreplaceable cultural heritage during an active conflict.
Cambodia’s Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a symbol of Khmer cultural heritage, is reported to have been destroyed by Thai military aggression. The temple, which has long been at the center of border tensions, represents an irreplaceable loss to Cambodia’s history, identity, and world heritage.

For fifteen consecutive days, the Thai armed forces have carried out unlawful military aggression against Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. These actions constitute serious violations of the Charter of the United Nations, international law, and the principles of good-neighborly relations. The Royal Government of Cambodia strongly and unequivocally condemns this act of aggression against Cambodian territory. The aggression by the Thai armed forces has not only targeted the Cambodian armed forces deployed to defend national sovereignty, but has also deliberately targeted civilians and civilian infrastructure. As of December 21, 2025, as a result of attacks by invading Thai troops, 19 Cambodian civilians have been killed, 79 injured, and more than 518,651 people have been displaced.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio spoke with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, according to a press release seen by Fresh News on Friday (Dec. 19).
Secretary Rubio underscored the United States’ concern regarding the continued violence along the Cambodian border and emphasized the immediate need to reduce tensions.
He urged Foreign Minister Sihasak to take concrete actions to de-escalate the situation and for Thailand to return to implementing the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accords.
Cambodias plight is published in a national newspaper in the United Kingdom today.
The UKs trade with Thailand and Cambodia represents roughly 1.5% of all its global trade a year.

Thailand is about to shift its narrative from military escalation and F-16 bombs to that of a hero in combating scams. For international observers, this raises a question of interpretation rather than intent: are recent operations best understood as law-enforcement actions against scam networks, or as military operations contextualised through an anti-crime framework? Equally important is the issue of verification. Public information about the targeted sites has so far relied primarily on official Thai military statements. But those buildings have been bombed by F-16s, and the damage has already been done.

More than 300,000 people marched in Phnom Penh for peace as fighting along the Thai Cambodian border continues. The crowd was mostly Cambodian, joined by some expats and foreign residents, and included monks, students, elders, artists, and families calling for a lawful and peaceful resolution and respect for existing agreements.
The march reflects a form of civic nationalism. Cambodians came together in a united public display of identity and solidarity, centered on peace, de-escalation, and protection of civilians, even as border areas face airstrikes and heavy weapons.
Alongside this, an expat perspective from the peace walk this morning reflects the views of long-term residents living through the conflict. It emphasizes concern for civilian displacement, harm to communities, and the strain prolonged fighting places on everyday life on both sides of the border.
Large crowds in the capital and quieter voices from the ground are aligned. Peace is the priority.

Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said in an interview this evening:
“If Cambodia wants a ceasefire, it must ask Thailand directly, not run to other countries’ leaders to negotiate. Thailand has been invaded and threatened. We have taken appropriate measures to protect our sovereignty and our people. We should not have outsiders telling us about this. Suddenly someone comes and says there should be a ceasefire at ten tonight. Simply put, that is impossible.”
"Both Countries are ready for PEACE and continued Trade with the United States of America. It is my Honor to work with Anutin and Hun in resolving what could have evolved into a major War between two otherwise wonderful and prosperous Countries!" - President Donald J. Trump 🇺🇸
The Thai military continued to drop multiple bombs in succession from F-16 fighter jets on the Victory Bridge on the afternoon of 13 December 2025, following earlier strikes that morning, with the aim of completely destroying the main water-crossing bridge (Victory Bridge) in Veal Veng District, Pursat Province. At present, the bridge has been completely cut off. #TruthfromCambodia #CambodiaNeedsPeace #JusticeForCambodia #Thailandfirefirst #Thailandlying
