WHY DOESN’T MANILA HAVE A MIDNIGHT TRAIN? 🚃

A post by a social media user about the schedules of trains in Metro Manila ignited a discussion online.

“You know what really doesn’t make sense here in Metro Manila? How the last rides of trains are between 8:30 to 10:30 PM,” X (formerly Twitter) user Karen Sison wrote.

Sison added that Metro Manila, which she said is a “city with so many call centers and night shift jobs,” has a range of last train schedules that “is way too early.”

One X user quipped: “Feeling ko talaga, totoo ito kaya hindi 24 hours ang operation ng MRT/LRT,” referring to a cult-favorite ‘Shake Rattle & Roll’ episode about trains.

“By comparison, other Asian systems like Bangkok's, Hong Kong's, Jakarta's, Kuala Lumpur's, or Singapore's close at either just a little before midnight or later daily,” another user commented.

According to the Light Rail Manila Corporation, which runs LRT-1, its weekday operations start at 4:30 a.m. at both Baclaran and Roosevelt stations. Meanwhile, the last train leaves the Baclaran Station at 10 p.m. and Roosevelt Station at 10:15 p.m.

Meanwhile, the weekday operating hours of LRT-2, according to the Light Rail Transit Authority, start at 5 a.m. at both Antipolo and Recto stations. Meanwhile, the last train leaves at the Antipolo Station at 9 p.m. and Recto Station at 9:30 pm.

For MRT-3, the first train leaves North Avenue Station at 4:36 am and its last trip is 9:30 p.m. On the other hand, the first train leaves Taft Avenue Station at 5:18 a.m. and the last trip is at 10:11 p.m.
