@shrutid203 @4ronica @IanRunkle It's rigorous 1st amendment protection. While we don't want people lying about people to hurt them, we also want to make absolutely sure nobody is punished by the state for their speech unless there is ample proof of legal malice & damage.

@GearGades @RekietaLaw No, it's just an issue of fact for the jury to decide. There is no proof of which one is lying just that one of them is. In order for them to be charged with perjury you'd need pretty solid evidence, and even then courts dont often pursue it.
