hello new ppl! i tweet a lot about heated rivalry, yankees baseball, politics/environmental stuff, nyc, comm/rhetorical theory, movies/tv shows, and fandom things.
if you loathe gen ai and tend to think in visual metaphors or movie quotes, i’m prob your cup of tea. don’t be shy!
when it’s the WHOLE TEAM, it’s not any one player’s fault.
it’s energy and leadership.
they’re understandably tired from 18/19 in a row, but this is mental. they are scattered and no one is leading.
Why are the Yankees in a slump right now?
Goldschmidt: 0 for his last 14
Rice: 5 for his last 41
Domínguez: 2 for his last 17
Volpe: 5 for his last 30
Caballero: 5 for his last 35
Bellinger: 3 for his last 30
Chisholm: 1 for his last 15
Wells: Entire season
The Tigers came into today tied for the second best xwOBA against Four-seams, Sinkers, and Cutters.
I get fastballs is Cam's thing, but it shows a real lack of gameplanning and adjustability when you throw 36 pitches, go 0-for-21!!! on whiffs, and only throw one curveball!!
at some point, when you don’t have a championship, and the leadership has been the same the whole time, you have to start questioning the leader(s)
(and no, this isn’t bandwagon; i got booed by my own family years ago for saying judge is overrated lol)
*commence tomatoes*
"There's not going to be a hell of a lot more shots at this I would think if they don't cash in a championship" from Joel Sherman earlier today on Aaron Boone is a very different tone from what he usually says about Aaron Boone
@amper0627@ChrisKirschner this is a great point. whole vibe is off, but especially after that shift. i know it’s been a long stretch of games but the pitchers were fine. if the pitching was doing it’s thing the defense and low offense wouldn’t nearly be as big a deal. (but right now it all matters.)
Caballero needs a day or 5 off. Hasn’t hit in a long time. Multiple errors in every position .. and don’t give me “he should be playing SS” hes on this team for his versatility.
For what it’s worth, the Yankees free fall began that Sunday vs Cincinnati when Aaron Boone opted to start Elmer Rodriguez and push the starters back a day.
The rotation has not looked the same since.
Back to back nights where tens of thousands of Yankees fans paid money to attend a game only for the vibes to be entirely sucked out of the stadium by 7:30. Should get a refund frankly.
