The Home Office released annual hate crime data last week that shows a 20% increase in crimes specifically targeting Sikhs. This is the highest for all religious groups.

In comparison there has been a 16% increase in hate crimes targeting Muslims. However, a 12% decrease for Jews and 6% decrease for Hindus.

Another important factor is religious hate crimes only accounts for around 9% of hate crimes. Over 70% of hate crimes are categorised as racially motivated.

Where the ethnicity of victims of racially or religiously aggravated crimes was provided 70% were non-White.

Accurate statistics therefore for Anti-Sikh hate crimes are lost under “racially aggravated” crimes and elsewhere.

For example, the West Midlands Police have recorded the two high profile cases in Wolverhampton and Oldbury as “racially aggravated” and not necessarily recorded them as “Sikh” under religiously aggravated crimes.

As the UK Government do not specifically recognise or have a definition of Anti-Sikh hate crimes the police often chose to ignore the fact the victims see are Sikh.

Freedom of belief does not mean freedom to inflict a cruel and brutal death upon millions of animals. It is un-British.

We should ban halal slaughter, and we should ban kosher slaughter.

MPs being pressured to make representations to UK Government on safety and security of Sikhs in the UK

Earlier today a press conference was held at @GNGSmethwick to express grave concern for the safety and security of Sikhs in the UK after revelations in Canada and the US this week concerning the criminal role of senior Indian diplomats and intelligence officers.

A mass letter writing campaign (see letter attached) for constituents to write to MPs was launched aimed at pressuring MPs to get the UK Government to urgently provide reassurance to British Sikhs and explain what they are doing to counter India’s transnational repression that has reached new and extreme heights of barbarity.
