Kenya🇰🇪 has appointed AFC and TDB to arrange financing for a $1.2 billion upgrade of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
The project comes after Kenya cancelled a proposed Adani airport deal following US🇺🇸 indictments against Gautam Adani.
The upgrade aims to lift JKIA’s annual passenger capacity from 7.5 million to more than 22 million.
Kenya🇰🇪 is racing to defend Nairobi’s hub status as Ethiopia🇪🇹 and Rwanda🇷🇼 invest heavily in new airports.
This is the famous Magufuli Bus Stand in Mbezi. This is not constructed by a private investor but by the government. Next to it is the Nyegezi Bus Stand, Mwanza also constructed by the government.
One would argue why Kenya doesn't have such kind. We have Machakos Country Bus, Kisumu Bus Park, Kakamega Bus Park, Eldoret Bus Park, Bungoma Bus Park and the like. We have them. The only issue is maintenance. Our facilities are basic and not properly maintained. Infact some of them don't even have shades for passengers to wait for buses. Tunaweza ziita parking ya magari as they wait for passengers.
Ndio tufike mahali TZ wako, we have some hard conversations to have with ourselves.
The Somali diaspora is a double-edged sword. Some spend their time calling Somalia a failed state, while others build businesses, create jobs, and elevate the Somali name across Africa.
In eastern Congo, Somali traders and energy suppliers operate where others refuse to go. They cross dangerous terrain, floods, mud, and harsh conditions to keep communities and mining operations running.
A Chinese trader, Mr. Juan, who works closely with Somali businesses in Congo, put it simply:
"If Somalis were not here, many mining companies would not be operating. The copper, lithium, and rare minerals the world depends on would be much harder to extract. Somalis energy trades are taking risks every day, because of them many Congolese families earn their livelihoods because of their efforts. Somalis are heroes here as he argue"
Many Congolese describe Somalis as some of Africa's best traders because they take risks, solve problems, and deliver where others cannot.
Within the next 15 years, Somalis will become one of the leading trading communities in East Africa, driving regional commerce, logistics, and cross-border trade.
@PolitlcsUK The incoming Prime Minister of Britain travels to London in a commercial train then in London, uses a taxi! Don’t tell that to African leaders who are recipients of UK loans!
@Kenyans Americans don’t actually use the term. They say “congressman”, “senator”, etc. The “honourable” and “excellency” nonsense are African diseases!
This habit of calling people Honourable should stop. We should be called representatives, and leave the title Honourable to the Americans - Okiya Omtatah
It is when you step out of Nigeria that you will know how organized human life can be.
For people in other countries life is:
Work - earn money - enjoy your money.
But here it is work - more work - additional work - side work - and still no clear path that it will ever lead anywhere.
God is very intentional. Nothing about your life is random. Not the delays, not the detours, not even the waiting. He knows exactly what He's doing. Please learn to trust him more this year.
Keir Starmer led our party from the brink, back to power. He won a landslide victory, which few in our party's history have done before. That achievement will never be forgotten. In office, he put us on the path to the change we promised at the last election. A devoted and dedicated public servant, we owe him our deepest thanks.
No matter what happens next and who the next PM will be, Starmer @Keir_Starmer ahould always be remembered as the Prime Minister who stood up to Trump and told him where to shove his illegal war. Starmer did that, and we should honour and thank him for it
It has been a privilege to work alongside Sir Keir Starmer as he has led international efforts to support Ukraine through the Coalition of the Willing, strengthen NATO, improve Arctic cooperation, and deepen the historic partnership between Canada and the United Kingdom.
Throughout, and in the face of exceptional challenges, Keir has acted with principle, determination, and collaboration. The world is safer and allies are more united because of his efforts.
Keir, thank you for your lifetime of public service. I am grateful for your friendship, and I wish you all the best as you concentrate on your "most important job.”
Keir, thank you for all our cooperation, your support, and the joint decisions that have helped make our Europe and our protection of life stronger.
The United Kingdom has been, is, and will remain among the world’s leaders. Here in Ukraine, we deeply value Britain, and every meeting and every conversation we have had has always been filled with real substance.
Thank you for always being in touch, always engaged, and always striving to do what is needed and what will truly help.
I wish the United Kingdom and all British people every success as well as realisation of your national goals. We have confidence in Britain.
Keir, you are always a welcome guest in Ukraine.
@Keir_Starmer
Keir Starmer’s place in history is assured. We owe Keir a debt of gratitude for taking Labour from its worst electoral defeat in 2019, bringing Labour back into government with a huge majority in 2024 and then guiding Britain through difficult times nationally and globally.
