JJ Redick’s first 2 seasons as the Lakers head coach:
50 wins in Year 1. 53 wins in Year 2. Top 4 in the West both times. First Lakers coach with back-to-back 50-win seasons since Phil Jackson. A 57-4 record when leading after 3 quarters.
He came in with zero coaching experience, inherited a roster riddled with injuries, navigated a mid-season franchise player trade, and still never dipped below the standard.
Everyone said he had no business being here. Two years later, he has proven everyone wrong.
“Man it would mean the world to me. I don’t know anything different. My rookie year, I had no idea what the hell is going on, and he basically took me under his wing. Given me every opportunity that I could ever ask for. Trusted me, further than the court. Build a real friendship. He obviously is into Golf now so we’re a lot closer so, but yeah, it’s been super fun.
Hope to you know, continue to do that. He’s taught me a lot. I love him a lot for my career. He’s giving me confidence every single day.
After I missed the three, to take the game, he was walking behind me and said, “Hell of a shot. Keep your head up.” Just based off the character that he has. And whatever he doesn’t in the court, y’all seen it. I don’t have to talk about it”
AR on if he got to run it back with Lebron next year
