This was Dolly Parton’s “farewell” video from May 2026 — and none of us realized it. Or believed it. Or wanted to believe it.
Her last words to us were: “I will always love you. Thank you.”
This is incredible! #Dolly Parton performing "Peace Train" with Ladysmith Black Mambazo
I am loving the discovery of some of these lesser-known projects she has done!
In the 1970s, Italian singer Adriano Celentano made a song in response to the popularity of American songs in Italy, using nonsense words that sounded like American English. His song, “Prisencolinensinainciusol,” became a number-one hit across Europe at the time.
Dolly once wrote me a letter asking if I’d listen to a song she’d written and consider singing it with her. The truth is, I didn’t even listen before I said yes. When Dolly Parton asks, you say yes.
When God made Dolly, He broke the mold.
This one really hurts. 💔
Today we celebrate Robert Redford’s birthday and reflect on the remarkable legacy of an artist, advocate, and founder whose belief in independent voices changed cinema forever.
Through Sundance Institute, Redford built a community where storytellers could take creative risks, share their perspectives, and bring new stories to the world. His vision lives on in every artist we support.
The whole world knew him as the suave, unshakable superstar with the unmistakable voice — the very first James Bond, one of the most famous men on the planet.
But in his final years, far from the cameras, he was something much simpler and more tender: a frail old man, losing his words, being cared for with total devotion by the woman who had loved him for nearly half a century...
His name was Sir Sean Connery.. . And this is the quieter story of how his great love story ended.
For generations of moviegoers, Connery was the ultimate screen icon. The original 007. The commanding presence and rich Scottish burr that defined cool for decades. He was adored by millions the world over, an Oscar winner, a knight of the realm — a man who seemed, on screen, utterly invincible.
But the man behind the legend had come from humble beginnings. Born in Edinburgh in 1930, the young Sean Connery had worked as a milkman, a bricklayer, a lifeguard, and even an artist's model long before Hollywood ever came calling. He never forgot where he came from.
And through all the fame that followed, there was one constant at his side.
Her name was Micheline Roquebrune — a French-Moroccan painter, and the great love of his life. The two of them met, fittingly, over their shared passion for golf, at a tournament in the early 1970s. They came from different countries and different cultures, and yet the connection between them was instant and unmistakable.
They married in 1975. And they stayed together, devotedly, for more than forty-five years.
Through all of it — the red carpets, the global fame, the relentless public attention — Micheline remained Sean's anchor, his partner, and his best friend. Theirs was a rare thing in the world of celebrity: a marriage that just lasted, growing deeper with every passing decade.
When Connery largely stepped away from acting, the couple settled into a peaceful retirement in the Bahamas, far from the bright lights. And it was there, in those later years, that the hardest chapter of their life together began.
Sean Connery had begun to develop dementia.
It is a cruel condition, one that slowly steals a person's memories, their thoughts, and their words. And there was something especially heartbreaking about it striking this particular man — because Sean Connery, of all people, had been famous for his voice. That deep, magnetic, one-of-a-kind delivery was one of the most recognizable sounds in the history of film. And now, little by little, the illness was taking even that away from him.
Watching the person you love change before your eyes, as memory and speech slip away, is one of the most painful journeys anyone can walk. Many people, understandably, find it unbearable.
Micheline did not step back for a single moment.
Instead, she stayed right by her husband's side, every single day, caring for him with endless patience and unconditional love. She made sure the man who had brought so much joy to the world spent his final chapter wrapped in warmth, safety, and steady affection — surrounded, above all, by the certainty that he was deeply loved, even when the words grew scarce.
In May of 2020, the couple marked their forty-fifth wedding anniversary at their Bahamas home. A tender photograph from that day — described as one of the last ever taken of him — would later be shared with the world: Sean and Micheline sitting close together, holding hands, her arm wrapped around him, gazing at him with a lifetime of love in her eyes.
A few months later, on the 31st of October 2020, Sir Sean Connery died peacefully in his sleep. He was ninety years old. And true to everything she had given him, Micheline was right there with him at the end.

This is Gary — Glen Hansard’s brother — from the funeral today. He says a few words and then sings. It’s absolutely gorgeous and very moving.
I haven’t seen this one and a couple of people were asking for it. Definitely worth a watch. ❤️
Glen Hansard’s final performance captured hours before his death in his favourite pub
One punter said they were "in awe of his genius" https://t.co/noserTGG76
The heavens got a new angel today, an Irish one at that. One whose voice lit up the sky long before he went to heaven. One whose voice moved the hearts of people around the world. Glen was angelic and mystical. He was kind, loving, and talented. He leaves behind a family, a legion of friends, like Bono and my sweet brother, bobby who just hung with him in a pub in Ireland, connecting the way one does in a pub in Ireland.
Glen sang at both of my parents’ funerals. At my mother’s, he sang “Forever Young” while our Special Olympic athletes placed their medals on top of her casket. At my father‘s funeral, he sang with Bono and the entire church was transcended. He will be forever young, and he died way too young.
To those for whom he was family, my heart goes out to you. To those who love his music, keep listening. to those who believe in prayer, a new angel is up there to pray to. Amen. ❤️🩹
