Thanks to @sp4rklefishy & a joke about uwu I realized I'm obsessed with potential ideal forms of things/ideas & what those perfect forms could be. Like.. what is the ultimate form of a chair or social justice or or an rpg about cats . I just sit with these thoughts constantly.
@BabblegumSam @JL_icious Last time I read about this game, I saw 4 play sheets I think. I'm so hyped to see it developing. I don't have much to add but hopefully this comment boosts your twitter algorithm or something. i don't know how all that works.
There are so many little ideas that are executed well that I find myself coming back to look at it again from time to time. Check this one out. This is a layered complex and interesting game that would never have occurred to me.
The mechanics become the characters become the setting become the mechanics in a really neat ouroboros of elegant design. Every "stereotype" playbook is a complex person with needs and fears.
The interpersonal is central but more complicated than your average Belonging without Belonging game. You give other players tokens by being intimate. You take tokens from people who care about you by self destructing. All in character specific ways that drive story.
There is a heavy focus on making the feelings of the characters incredibly important. You emote to earn tokens. You spend tokens to do power moves like defusing a tense situation with kind words.
(This is based on earlier drafts of the game sheets I've seen)
I've followed this game for a long time. It's so neat. I don't know if I could play it but every little detail I see gives me ideas to think about. I'm not great at summing it up but every bit of the design is aces.
@PartyOfOnePod A game of Lovecraftesque or some other haunting imagery game all building up to the final line "But doctor, I am the great clown Pagliacci"
I'm not sure if that counts as fanfiction but it might
@ErikTheBearik it just as easily could have backfired on me depending on the manager. it's really odd how much of this is "what one person told you early in your career and how it worked out for you" which seems like the real anti-atypical bias since it is all inconsistent guesswork based.
@ErikTheBearik but it always made sense to me that an overworked manager would pick someone that really wanted the job enough to be annoying about it rather than having to spend tons of time on all the resumes? that's been my guess anyway.
@ErikTheBearik unless the skill you want is "knowing the secret rule" and "consistently follows up on stuff" it's not exactly the best metric for hiring.
@ErikTheBearik i have been hired more than once because i followed the advice to follow up rather doggedly. it isn't reasonable that it distinguished me but it did. oftentimes, it was because it simply made hiring me easier than anyone else because then they didn't have to think about it.
@PartyOfOnePod At first I thought this was a total war variant but no, it's wrestling. Should have known it'd be wrestling. It was either that or great clowns. Or both.
@PartyOfOnePod blue, purple, orange, red- consistent flavors across brand and food product. (orange is distinct from orange the fruit). yellow and green sometimes vary.
