@TroubIedHeart -- itself for him to just lay down and fall asleep instantly.
“We really hit the jackpot with this place, didn't we?” He joked. It felt as if they had won the lottery, apocalypse style.
@TroubIedHeart -- and the other he could only assume that the parents had slept in. He walked into the former parents’ room, setting his bag down on the floor as they arrived.
The bed was absolutely huge and looked incredibly comfortable, the sight of it making James almost tired enough by --
@TroubIedHeart He nodded, setting down the can of fruit on a shelf but keeping the package of jerky in his hand. Intertwining their fingers, James led Alyssa back to the main floor of the house and then to the upstairs.
There were two bedrooms; one of which appeared to have housed a child --
@TroubIedHeart -- other and absolutely beamed at Alyssa.
He honestly hadn't been this excited about food in a very long time; and he was so beyond happy that they wouldn't have to worry about suffering from starvation for quite a long time.
@TroubIedHeart -- towering walls of food to inspect and see what they had. Different types of crackers, pastas, soups, granola bars, and so much more was sitting there, just waiting to be eaten. The boy turned himself around with a can of fruit in one hand and a package of beef jerky in the --
@TroubIedHeart James’ eyes flickered from Alyssa’s frame to the fairly large stacks of a variety of non-perishable foods, his jaw dropping.
“Jesus..” he muttered, totally mesmerized. With this amount of food, the two of them were surely set for months.
He stepped forwards toward the--
@TroubIedHeart -- assumed led to the basement, wide open. She was probably down there, assessing the safety of that area of the house.
Instead of waiting up for her in the kitchen he too began his journey into the deep, dark basement. When he spotted Alyssa he let out a quiet sigh of relief--
@TroubIedHeart By the time he made his way to the main floor after searching the upstairs, Alyssa had already disappeared downstairs. For a moment he panicked when he didn't see her and even contemplated calling out her name.
Upon further inspection though he spotted the door that he --
@TroubIedHeart --, and so he would have to hold his breath until he reached it.
It seemed as if luck were on his side today. Much to his surprise and relief, all three rooms were empty, and so James promptly made his way back downstairs to Alyssa.
@TroubIedHeart there, thank God. Then he made his way up the staircase, a few wooden stairs creaking under his step. When he reached the top, he discovered that there were only 3 rooms; two of which the doors were closed. The third and only opened door was at the very end of the corridor, --
@TroubIedHeart -- more undead or living people than he could handle alone?
He shook away his negative thoughts, trying to convince himself that he was simply paranoid.
First he cleared what would have been the guest room of the house & the living room. Nothing and nobody was awaiting him --
@TroubIedHeart James only nodded in response, wanting to keep as quiet as he could before he was able to be sure that the house was cleared of both living and dead.
As he walked away from Alyssa to check the rest of the house he began nervously chewing his bottom lip. What if there were--
@PhyPrecipitancy -- arranged bouquet for her, he thought these would do well.
After Alyssa had stormed upstairs, James prepared the small pot of yellow flowers, ready to present them to her as an apology gift at whatever point she came back downstairs.
@PhyPrecipitancy -- like ages ago. He did remember though that every so often James’ father would present his mother with a bouquet of flowers; a gift she always loved receiving.
He wanted to attempt the same thing with Alyssa, and although he couldn't manage to go out and purchase a properly--
@PhyPrecipitancy --things that for the longest time he didn't want to feel neither thought he was capable of feeling. He felt guilty for upsetting her. The boy didn't know much about romance, since the closest thing to a proper romance he had seen was between his mother and father, and that felt-
@PhyPrecipitancy “They're for you.” James replied quietly and calmly.
After the unpleasant events of that evening unfolded, James had realized something, a truth that for most of their journey he tried to suppress as much as he possibly could.
Alyssa had made him start to feel things,--
