I need the Knicks to win because it feels like New York is the only state in the US having fun right now and I wanna see what happens when they overdose on joy and whimsy
It’s so awesome how every angle of this is framed so that the ball completely bounces away from the basket with nothing else in sight right before OG suddenly ascends into the frame
there are a lot of theories on why this Knicks run is so much INSIDE New Yorker souls, why it's spiritually sustaining somehow, and I think KAT nails it: Until January, everything was going against New York. We had bad leadership, we had ICE raids, grocery prices are probably the highest in the country, and they were lines of the most insufferable TikTok people everywhere so that you can't even get coffee without seeing them.
Mamdani was a huge positive break for the city. A lot of New Yorkers couldn't believe that good things were finally happening. And now the Knicks winning like this supports it. It really does feel like the mandate of heaven.
That's our member behind the wheel. He was pulled out of the cab and suffered shock and physical injury to his arm, back and head.
The whole city is elated about our hometown team — and that includes drivers who watched the game last night at airport lots while waiting for the next fare, listened on their radios while cruising for the next job, and huddled at hotel lines with the same heart-stopping anxiety that turned into the most beautiful joy.
Pulling the cab driver out of his seat, stomping on and shattering his hood turned our joy into a nightmare.
When you see the yellow, do you not see the person behind the wheel? That's someone's spouse, child, parent or friend — a New Yorker.
He wasn’t out there for a joy ride, he was working to make ends meet and to get his fellow New Yorkers home safely.
Cabbies pay just to go to work. They pay for their cars — whether through loans or leases.
Drivers need safety on the job, both in the quiet moments of ordinary days and in the middle of public celebration.
Shame on anyone who turns these joyful moments into nightmares for fellow New Yorkers.
I don’t give a damn who thinks Jalen Brunson’s 1A. He sacrificed 100 million to build a championship roster and dragged a franchise in a half century drought to the finals by being clutch. He’s 1A. Yall are arguing with people playing semantics. Reality is better.
