@greatmongo@cszabla@mattyglesias Is it the German way?
I think it definitely makes sense. But nothing makes sense in the UK anymore.
From what I understand, Germany takes a very sensible approach to this sort of stuff.
@hoving3847321@cszabla@mattyglesias No i understand and agree. My grandmother is currently on her deathbed in a house she bought in the early 90s for 50k.
Also immigration hasn't helped the housing crisis at all but thats a whole other debate.
@hoving3847321@cszabla@mattyglesias I genuinely didn't know that. I presumed Londons non-density compared to similar sized cities was reflected across the UK.
My views still stand tho.
Id rather see London expand outward on all sides a few miles than demolish all the terraced streets here to build tower blocks.
@hoving3847321@cszabla@mattyglesias England isnt densely populated compared to other European countries and I'd like to keep it that way. Expand our cities.
@greatmongo@cszabla@mattyglesias Expand the greenbelt further away from major cities then and expand the cities a few miles into the greenbelt.
The greenbelt is literally made made and we can make new ones on green land that isnt currently designated as greenbelt. Further away from cities.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias I personally like the new york model where cars are affordable to run and park and the subway is affordable to use so it gives people genuine options.
I hate the punitive taxes and fines that London has resorted to to fund TfL and think its illiberal and unfair.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias Through trying not to get an aneurism reading the last half of your reply, I think i agree.
Although I am vehemently pro car, I think transport only works in cities when its comprehensive and includes public transport.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias Also what makes terraced houses that are often painted various colours and rendered etc dystopian when the buildings you've just shared all look exactly the same. No variety. No individuality. No clear distinctions between units.
And you call terraced housing dystopian?? π€£π€£
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias I dont want a fucking "shared garden" and I also want somewhere to park my car you europhile knob.
Terraced house with garden and front drive >>> bullshit "shared garden" flat any day of the week.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias 2 ups 2 downs are objectively better and more desirable than "medium rise courtyard blocks". Its not even up for debate.
Funny how you can always tell people who have never lived in cramped flats with kids by their shit opinions on housing.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias Mate what? One of the houses has clearly had a fire. The white ones next door look lovely and I'd adore to live in a house like that.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias I presume you mean Beaching*? I agree with that. But dont agree we should be demolishing houses and replacing them with European style "courtyard blocks".
The demonisation of cars and car infrastructure by YIMBYs is one of my most visceral hatreds.
@murchiston@cszabla@mattyglesias No the fuck they shouldn't be demolished and replaced by "medium rise courtyard blocks" you tosser.
I've got no idea why you people hate houses with gardens and parking spaces so much.
You just wanna turn London into some contental high density city where we all live in flats.
@MoneyTelegraph This is the real reason behind "white genocide" π€£π€£π€£
People throughout history have had children through the HARDEST of times but now these pale snowflakes are unable to have at least a couple kids on 100k a year π€£π€£π€£π€£
Keep it up white people. Love to see it.
