It was wonderful to be asked by @MerseyPolice’s Safer Schools team to attend @LiverpoolBCS this morning to watch Operation Prospect. What a powerful & impactive intervention which will hopefully reduce the rates of serious violence & empower young people to make the right choices

❗Criminals take advantage of a child's innocence to gain their trust & manipulate them, trapping them in a world of criminality so it's vital we find new & innovative ways to teach young people about the signs of exploitation and the consequences of carrying weapons.

Today, I joined officers from @MerseyPolice Armed Dept who delivered a powerful & engaging lesson to pupils at Blue Coat School.

The session used emotional accounts from the familes of knife and gun crime victims as well as creative demonstrations showing how extreme blood loss can affect a person.

We also heard how armed officers only have a split-second to decide whether an offender is carrying a real or fake weapon and must always act in the interests of the safety of the wider public and themselves.

❌��If you are caught carrying a weapon, the best outcome for you is to expect a lengthy prison sentence - the very worst, it could cost you your life.

Pupils learnt some valuable lessons today and went away with the tools that can help make Merseyside an even safer place for us all. 🤔 #OperationProspect
