I struggle with this. It sounds nice in theory, but someone has to pay for the roads, the fire stations, public services, parks, etc. And a large family is utilizing even more of those resources than a small one. The infertile couple, for instance, shouldn’t have to pay more in taxes just because they can’t have children.

So yes, I think the better solution is to simply cut taxes across the board, let everyone keep more of their own money, and now you can better support a larger family if you want one. (Which obviously would necessitate massively cutting government spending.)

I don’t think it’s the government’s job to financially incentivize anything. It’s the government‘s job to get out of the way and the benefit of a responsibly lived life will incentivize itself.
