'WE MAY BE DIFFERENT BUT WE ARE EQUAL'
Elix Valenciano successfully graduated from grade school at PWU JASMS in Quezon City on April 16, 2026. During his graduation ceremony, he delivered a powerful speech sharing his journey as a student on the autism and ADHD spectrum.
Before finally finding his academic home, Valenciano had faced rejection from three other schools due to his condition.
As he embarks on another chapter in his "ausome journey," he paid tribute to the people who helped him achieve this remarkable feat. "Most of all, thank you to my family, my Tatay Jayvee and Nanay Armi for your love and support. You reminded me that asking for help is okay."

REMEMBERING NINOY 🎗️
Today, August 21, or Ninoy Aquino Day, is a special non-working holiday to commemorate the 43rd death anniversary of former Sen. Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr.
Gregg Popovich says Don Nelson taught him how to negotiate his first San Antonio contract and got him an additional $250,000 which helped him pay for his house
“When I went back to San Antonio and they hired me there, I got a five-year contract at X, and it went up $50,000 each year. I said, ‘Well, I’ve got to go home and talk to my wife, and I’ve got a couple calls to make.’ And of course, Nelly was the call.”
“So I told him the deal. He said, ‘So what are you going to do?’ I said, ‘I’m loving being at Golden State, but it is a pretty good offer and deal and all that.’”
“He said, ‘You big dummy, Popo, you’re going back there, and this is how you’re going to do it. You call that committee and you say, add $50,000 to my first year, and then from there $50,000 on top of that. So in the end, after five years, you will have made $250,000, and that’ll pay for your house.’”
“That’s how he thought. So I said, ‘Okay.’ I went back and I made the phone call, and I was like a 12-year-old. I was, ‘I was wondering, I thought maybe if you guys could…’”
“The gentleman on the other end of the phone said, ‘What do you want?’ I finally spit it out. In two seconds, he said, ‘Okay.’”
“And I remembered what Nelly told me: ‘They already offered you the job. They’re not going to start over again and get somebody else, so just do it.’ And so I did it.”
Schools have a responsibility to keep students safe, but parents also have a crucial role to play. Parents, please know your kids. Pay attention to what they’re struggling with and what they may be carrying silently. This cannot become the new normal for the children. 💔
