7 Jul 1972 @werderbremen 🇩🇪 downs @PumasMX 🇲🇽 2-1 before a crowd of 4,000 at Keyworth Stadium, Hamtramck. Tempers boiled over after a late second-half goal for Pumas and referee Hans Schwink called the game with a few minutes to play.

The last time @PumasMX came to Detroit was early Feb 2012. They defeated Vasas SC 🇭🇺 and Club Atlético River Plate 🇦🇷 to win the Amerisoccer Club Championship at the Pontiac Silverdome

Detroit City FC is saddened to hear of the passing of Detroit Express legend Trevor Francis.
Francis inspired a generation of soccer fans in the Detroit area and his impact on the game in our community cannot be overstated.
Trevor Francis - such a big name when I was growing up what with his Roy Of The Rovers appearances (that's him in the front row sandwiched between Noel Baxter and Mr Race), Tiger's coverage of his stint with Detroit Express, and the small matter of his goal... #trevorfrancis
I am so, so sorry to hear of the passing of Trevor Francis. He wrote for Tiger for many years and he was a lovely man to work with. Here's Trevor and his wife Helen during their flight to America, where Trevor was to play for Detroit Express. The two of them now reunited.
Rest In Peace to my first soccer hero, Mr. Trevor Francis, an all-time great. He thrilled us in 1978 and 1979, as by far, the best player on the Detroit Express. 🙏
🗓 in 1979 Trevor Francis became Britain's first £1m footballer when he signed for Nottingham Forest.
He won two European Cups with Forest - in 1979, where he scored the winner against Malmo, and in 1980.
Rest in peace.
