@MartinSLewis Been awful - mum's husband died in August, she is beneficiary of his pension and I have been messed around trying to sort it out for her since then. Multiple calls, fobbed off, no information, no updates, no escalation, no manager. Nada. Utterly disgraceful and trapped
@93vintagejones Pensioners have already paid into the pension system throughout their entire working lives. You are talking as if they are getting some free handout. Utter nonsense
@PleaseSpend@RJHarle@idealheating Managed to get through on 3rd attempt at phone call - 32 mins on hold - but I was prepared for the long haul this time. A nice chap has arranged an appt for an engineer to visit us this week so got there in the end
@RJHarle@idealheating Same issue here. 2 x 30 minute wait to customer services, and I have given up. 3 x call back requests. 1 received but I missed the call, the other 2 no ones contacted me. Live chat times out. What's the point in a 10 year warranty that you can't use? Our boiler is only 6 mths old

@EOCS_Official@LKPleasehold
@NLC_2019@HorNet_Group@suejbright@SteveRobson04@LKPleasehold@ElaineWITV Sounds like another developer / council stitch up: council gets a new public space as part of granting planning permission to the developer - and the new residents foot the maintenance bill including a hefty £30k annual fee to the incoming mgmt Co. ...Perfect.
Mis-selling - Persimmon will offer to sell the Freehold for £2000 going back as far as the year 2000!
Doubling G R - Aviva will revert all leases that double more than 20 yrs back to INITIAL GR

CMA @CMAgovUK secures landmark commitments for leaseholders !
Another massive milestone.
Persimmon & Aviva have eventually done the right thing at last, now other developers & freeholders MUST FOLLOW

🏠We’ve also written to other investment groups requiring them to remove terms from their contracts that lead to ground rents doubling.
We won’t hesitate to take further action in this sector if we think consumer protection law may have been breached.
#Leasehold#Property
We've secured commitments from Aviva and Persimmon to help fix issues for #leaseholders.
🏡 Aviva to remove certain doubling ground rent terms
🏡 Persimmon to offer leasehold house owners the option to buy their freehold at a discount

@sebastianokelly Exactly right, the shed loads of money generated by leasehold, encourages every money grabbing weasel you can imagine. Never going to be the types to act decently in any circumstances. Need to completely cut off the source, pruning never going to work.
I usually say upside of council leasehold is low cost; downside is councils' awful cost control on repairs. But these Thanet Georgian house leaseholders face wipe out of more than £200k each https://t.co/BYdkHfoZGU
Mis-selling from PPI to falsifying vehicle emissions levels have seen customers compensated but if you had the misfortune to buy an unsafe flat you're on your own. We must protect innocent leaseholders. @ukcag#EndOurCladdingScandal
So zero reason for the 18m threshold reason. Surely all properties built with flammable cladding should be treated the same in regard to support to remove them & to fix other fire related mistakes. Or is that too much common sense? @RobertJenrick@ukcag@EOCS_Official@NLC_2019
The people footing the bill for the Grenfell cladding scandal are not wealthy homeowners who gambled and lost, writes @JonnElledge. They are fairly average households that bought homes in good faith, only to find they were fire-traps. Why should they pay?
